In my eyes a body transformation is not merely a before and after picture. Although the pictures show the fantastic results and can be used as a powerful motivational and inspirational tool, the results we see are only aesthetic, on the surface.
While this is great for showing your friends and family, I believe a real body transformation runs deeper than this.more
To me a body transformation should encompass a positive change physically, mentally and habitually and although the first one is what most people see, I believe it not possible without full commitment to the latter two.
Yes, I believe a true body transformation is encompass change to the physique, fitness capabilities, mental strength, emotions, habits and lifestyle.
Why? Because I believe a 'transformation' should not be a fad. It is a change that will affect you for the rest of your life. A transformation should be sustainable.
This means we must be educated, motivated and willing to continue living the life as a result of our transformation.
Too many times I have seen a before, after and after-after picture and it is upsetting. The work they put in to achieve the result worked, but they could not hold on to this progress long enough.
So why does this happen?
Why do we 'fail' after we have 'succeeded'?
Well let me tell you a little story about a lady I met, I will call her Sarah...
Sarah was a busy lady. She worked as a teacher, was married and had two kids of her own. Her job was demanding both physically and mentally. She would work long days and come home to her own children she then had to care for. She was tired, but what could she do, right?
The kids just want fish fingers and chips, her husband eats only beige food such as sausage rolls, chicken slices and pasties daily. She would try her best to eat well. Plenty of vegetables. Good whole foods from natural sources. But she also regularly ate biscuits at work and glasses of wine in the evening and at the weekend.
Despite this, her weight went on. Her energy levels were wavering and her confidence was dropping.
Her husband was noticing too, saying she "had let herself go" and it was affecting their relationship.
Her kids would ask questions like "why do you not look like so and so's mummy?"
She did not like the image in the mirror.
Enough was enough.
So she signed up to the latest diet all her friends were doing. She attended weekly meets, put in the effort and saw some results. She started feeling better.
But then, it stopped. Weigh in came and it was the same. Next week – the same.
She got annoyed, starting obsessing with the scales.
Over time her good habits slipped. The weight started going back on again. A month later and she was back to square one.
Another month and she tried again, same results followed by same failure.
Again the next month.
This is when she came to me.
I took her on as my student and she dropped 2 dress sizes in her first 12 weeks. 18 months later and she has lost even more and kept it off.
How did she explain this journey? "Easy".
The problem with Sarah is the same that I see every day in 95% of people who come seeking help. What they have done in the past has worked to produce physical change but it did not lead to a true 'body transformation' because it was missing the core principles.
It did not look at human behavior, nor did it look at the lifestyle. They were a sure fire way of seeing results but not keeping them.
A body transformation should result in physical, mental and habitual change in a way that is easily sustainable.
This is my definition of a body transformation.
Through my years of experience and working with people looking to change, I have been able to create and refine my '4 pillars to body transformation' method that does exactly that. These 4 pillars I want to share with you, but that is for another time.
These 4 pillars aim to provide a true body transformation by leaving nothing to chance, if adhered to correctly.
Through education, motivation and application this leads to some fantastic results with the people who have worked with me, not just short term, but for years to come.
A true body transformation is more than a simple set of results over a given time. It is an opportunity to better oneself, create more value and self-worth and improve the overall quality of life.
Join me in another post where I will discuss my '4 pillars to body transformation'and how they will work for you.
